Itinerary Yellowhead Route
Day 1 Vancouver - Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains, to the desert-like environment of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 2 Kamloops - Jasper
Your journey continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends on arrival in the resort town of Jasper this evening.
Alternative 2nd Day - Kicking Horse Route
Day 2 Kamloops - Banff - Calgary
Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, of course, the glistening glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends in the resort town of Banff this evening, or continues to the “Stampede City” of Calgary.
Please note: two-day Yellowhead and Kicking Horse rail journeys also operate in a westbound direction, from Calgary, Banff and Jasper to Vancouver. |

from Vancouver to Banff and onto Calgary or vice versa. Join the
train for two days of eye-dazzling beauty. The postcard perfect
winter scenery, the warm Canadian hospitality of the onboard staff,
the festive musical entertainment and the dedicated children’s

unforgettable, holiday experience.
Sit back and witness the glacier-capped mountain peaks of the
International Divide, pass Fraser Valley and the Fraser Canyon and
on to the spectacular Canadian Rockies and to the town of Banff,
Canada’s first National Park.
Whilst on board you are invited to enjoy the variety of festive
activities. Entertainers will perform to both adults and children
during the journey. Alternatively you may wish to retire to the
